Bringing Down The Gods

In response to a National Trust classical 18th century landscape, I approached 12 people; half of them lived or worked in Stourhead (a conservator, gardener, receptionist, vicar...) and the other half in very different, more culturally contemporary realms (a student, sculptor, medical practitioner, film-maker...). Each was invited to take me on a walk of their choosing; our conversations on these walks were shaped by the landscapes surrounding us, and explored themes from the estate’s 18th Century landscape design. A series of 5 mineral water bottles whose labels showed traces of those walks – images and words – were available at the exhibition preview and sold thereafter in National Trust shops and cafés.
